August 2026

Dear Friends of FTSP,

Last month, I wrote about some of the challenges facing live theatre today, and about the importance of finding new ways to introduce original work to audiences.

This month, I want to share an idea that has been taking shape for FTSP’s primary project.

Recently, I’ve been exploring the possibility of creating a pay-per-view video presentation of Someone Close To You, making it possible for audiences to experience the story from wherever they are.

For me, it’s about finding a new way to introduce the story to people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to see it. A digital presentation could allow us to reach audiences far beyond the geographic limitations of a traditional stage production - and, hopefully, begin building a community of people who want to see the play continue to grow.

Ultimately, the goal is still the stage, but for now, a wider online audience could help create awareness and interest in Someone Close To You, while giving us the opportunity to build a potential audience for a future live production.

It’s an approach that I’m very interested in pursuing, and we’re currently looking at what it could look like to make it accessible and worthwhile for audiences.

I’m excited by the possibilities, and I hope you are too. Sometimes bringing a play to the stage means thinking beyond the stage first.

And there may be more to share about Someone Close To You very soon.

Thank you for continuing to follow FTSP and for your support of new work. I hope you’ll stay with us as we take the next steps.

— Stephen
