Aishat Abiri's introduction to theatre production was as an actor. She then went on to co-direct the Maryland Institute College of Arts' 30th Annual Benefit Fashion Show. As a director for screen, her work has screened at the New/Next Film Festival, Baltimore, the Windows on North + Charles exhibition, Baltimore, and the Mental Filmness Film Festival, Chicago. She has a Master of Fine Arts in Filmmaking from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) with an emphasis in Intercultural Communication. She is a 2024 France-Merrick Fellow and a 2024 Saul Zaentz Fellow.
